Thanksgiving, World Cup, And Boat Rides

Good morning, or afternoon, or night or whatever time it is where you are! It's 7am here and a hope every one of you is having a great day! And maybe if you're not, this can help in some way!  I'm start off by saying HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I'm so thankful for all of you and thankful for the emails that I recieve! I seriously appreciate them so much and they really get me going throughout the week. Thanksgiving is a little different here, but I'll get into that later.  Let's start off with a spiritual thought to get my brain awake and my thoughts running.  SPIRITUAL THOUGHT I don't know if I've talked about this or not in another email, but my Mission President gave all of the new missionaries a challenge about a month and a half ago. He challenged us to pick up a Book of Mormon, and in 6 weeks, read it from cover to cover. But there's a little twist: Mark every single thing about Jesus Christ in a red colored pencil. That includes the life of Jesus Chr...

Chicken Hearts, Triantulas, And Peanut Butter!!

What's up everyone! I can't believe it's already been another week. I think I'm on like week 15 or something, but I honestly have lost track of time. But what I do know was yesterday was day one-hundred as a missionary! And that got me thinking of the days in elementary school where we would have a party for the 100th day of school! My expectations were high for a similar party on the mission, but of course that didn't happen. It also got me thinking about how much little I know for doing the same thing for 100 days. Like my portuguese, teaching, studies, and relationships should be so much better! But I guess I can't compare myself to the 4th grade me. I'm way out of my prime.  This week was honestly super chill because of a couple meetings and interviews, so this email shouldn't be too exciting, I'm sorry! I'm not going to try and sugar-coat anything to make it sound like every single week is crazy! But lets start with a little spiritual though...

Açaí, Bowling Champ, And Milagres!!

Bom dia everyone!! I hope everyone had such a great week! My week was pretty decent, a lot happened, nothing too crazy, but we seriously worked our butts off. I saw myself being able to get involved in the work more than ever, and I definitely saw the fruits of my labor! SPIRITUAL THOUGHT Something that I've noticed on my mission is your attitude changes everything. The days where I wake up with no desire to work, I find that my language is terrible, the people aren't receptive, and I start to see God's hand less.  In the Book of Mormon, we often hear the story of Nephi. It's the first story in the book and I'm sure y'all have read it thousands of times. And if you haven't it kinda goes like this: Nephi and his family leave Jerusalem because his father receives a vision that it will be destroyed (606BC). They walk in the desert days on end, miles and miles searching for the promised land. They are eating raw meat, constantly bickering (mainly by Nephi's ...

New Comp And Baptism [Week 13?]

Image
Opaaa tudo bem everyone!! This week flew by so quickly, but still so much has happened! I'm realizing that these emails have been getting a tad bit too long, and I kind of want more time to play some soccer, so they are going to have to get shorter. I'm sure a lot of you are super happy to hear that! Some bigger things that happened this week: had my first baptism with my boy Jose; got a new companion; was informed that I'm now leading my area; and I think I had a birthday. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT Elder Rasband, ONE OF OUR PROPHETS, gave a televised devotional from Natal, Brazil. In this devetional, he focused on three things: The importance of families, gathering Israel on both sides of the veil (missionary work and temple work), and recognizing the spirit. All things that I desperately needed to hear! He also talked a little bit about our prophet, Russell M. Nelson. Yes, we have a living prophet on the earth today who leads, guides, and receives revalation for everyone! Elder R...

Weight Loss, Marriage, And Death Kittens

Bom dia everyone!! It's time for another weekly email! I feel like I always want these to be short, because I have a million things to do on my preparation day, but once I start typing I literally can't stop. So sorry in advance, because I can't give you an ETA to when this email will end.  This week honestly went by super fast! I don't know if it's because We had a district meeting, zone conference, and halloween this week, but it was just fast.  SPIRITUAL THOUGHT This weeks spiritual thought will be a little shorter, but that doesn't mean in any way that it's not as important! I promise it's good, because it's about Jesus, and everything good comes from Jesus.  Last week, my Mission President challenged me to read the entire Book of Mormon cover to cover in 6 weeks and mark everything about Jesus Christ in red. This seemed like an impossible task given my packed schedule, but I'm always down for an impossible task! Anyways, I've never reali...
