Biggest São João In The World!

Image
One more week flew by and yes, I'm still alive! It's currently pouring rain and freezing, but that doesn't stop us from doing the Lord's work! This was a very hard, yet rewarding week, so let's get right into it.  São João This week was the peak of Brazil's São João holiday, and the city that I'm in, has the biggest São João in the world! Some of the biggest performers in Brazil were holding concerts right outside of our apartment. To celebrate, everyone eats corn. I'm talking corn on the cob, roasted corn, corn soup, corn dessert, corn cake, whatever you can do with corn, they eat it. They also celebrate by throwing "fireworks" everyone. And when I say fireworks, I literally mean bombs! These things are insanely loud and get me jumping in the middle of our lessons. On Saturday night, we had the opportunity to bring a couple of investigators to our Stake São João party. There was food, square dancing, and I got to see all of my missionary frien...

This Ward Is About To Erupt

What's up everyone! Hope you guys are having a great week! Going to start this one out by wishing a happy birthday to my brother Brian who would have turned 24 this past Saturday. Love you big bro! I'm also wishing a Happy Father's Day to you dad! I love you and I'm cheering for you everyday that you keep up the exercise grind! Not gonna lie, this new area is a struggle. First off, we are walking over 20 km a day on a giant ingrown toenail that I should probably get checked out. Secondly, the biggest holiday of the year is currently happening in our city, making the work 10 times harder. And lastly, this ward is on it's last leg. We are trying desperately to stop it from getting it closed down!  Let's get right into it... Ward Problems It currently feels like the cold war in this ward. It feels like there is about to have a fight break out at any moment. This ward has 360 members, but only 30 members came last week (which is the most this year). To combat these ...

Moved Across The Mission

Good morning everyone! I hope you all are having a great week! Just wanted to start this email off by wishing a happy birthday to my twin bros, Jason and Christian, who somehow turned 16 yesterday. If you haven't yet, go wish them a happy birthday.  This week was probably one of the most crazy weeks here on the mission! We got transfer news this week, and not only did I leave my companion and my area, I got moved to the complete opposite side of the mission, with a companion who also did the same thing. So yeah, this has been a difficult week nonetheless.  First Impressions Here are my first impression here in Monte Castelo (my new area) : - it is absolutely freezing at night and I am using a blanket for the first time on my mission. Ever though it's still only like 50 degrees, it feels like the winter that I've been missing. - It rains like crazy here! On Friday, it literally rained from sunrise to sunset nonstop. This made it super difficult to get familiar with the area ...

I'm Gonna Miss This Area --> Week 42

Good morning everyone! It's officially June! Which for most of you means summer. But here it only means winter. Which means absolutely nothing because it's still very hot, very sunny, and very humid every day. But let's get into it.  Lucas & Jessica Our friends Lucas and Jessica are continuing to make miracles and stay elect. They are dating and have the cutest 2 year old girl. This week we were able to have some super spiritual lessons with them. We even marked their wedding and baptism! In one of these lessons, the talked about the temples. They were in tears and already eager to be sealed with their families! We brought they to chruch yesterday and they absolutely loved it! (other than the 2 year old who was fast asleep the whole time) They were participating and everything. I'm super excited to continue working with them! Please pray that they can get married and baptized on July 1.  Exchange I got to do an exchange this week with my good friend Elder Vaclaw. Bu...
