No Pain, No Gain... Baptism :)

Image
Just when I thought that my health couldn't get any worse, I hurt my elbow last week playing soccer and the doctor put me in a sling lol. The sling got really annoying though, so now I'm just taking pain meds until I can completely straighten my arm again. But the work must go on! Anyways, good morning! I hope y'all had a fantastic week and let's get right into this email.  This week I kinda lost a little bit of motivation to work. So to reenergize myself spiritually, I studied a ton about Christ's Atonement! (His suffering, death, and ressurection). Something really cool that I learned was God's divine and complete love for His children. Okay so we lived with God before coming to this earth. God was literally with all of His children. God loved us. But God loved us so much that he wasn't content with us just living with Him. But he wanted all of us to become like Him and have everything that He has. He literally gave up His son, Jesus Christ, and risked los...

Getting Married! (Week 57)

Hey what's up everyone! This week was super busy and just seemed to fly by. But we're gonna play some soccer soon so this one's gonna be a little quicker.  health update: I'm currently dealing with wrist, back, shin, and toenail problems, but the prayers are working and it's all getting better. I also got pretty sick the other day and ended up sleeping for 13 hours straight. It's been years since I've done that and I'm not gonna lie, it was much needed!  In our area we have a couple of really cool things planned for this month, including a wedding and baptism that we were able to mark! So this week, we focued a lot of our efforts on finding new people to teach. And it kinda worked and didn't work at the same time. Did we find new people to teach that want to progress? Yes. Did they come to church yesterday? No. The absolute worst thing as a missionary is the constant sunday morning rainstorm.  Miracle: So speaking of the wedding, it was a giant heada...

End Of A Great Chapter

This week was a sad ending and a new beginning. These past seven weeks have easily been the hardest working and most fun weeks of my entire mission. I have learning so much and have drawn so much closer to my Savior. And I gotta do it all with the stud himself, Elder Bradford. This man is a literal unit. Not even his metal legs can stop him from working his absolute tail off every day. This man has changed my mission and I'm so grateful for that.  But now it's time to start chapter nine of mission. I have received a fairly new companion, Elder Ribas, and have a little bit of weight on my shoulders. I'm stressed, but determined, (and a little bit sad lol) still praying everyday that my body will hold up to the challenge. I nearly buzzed all of the hair off and now I'm locked in. This is the chapter of focus, dedication, and obedience. Let's just see how long that can hold out.  This week started out sad. We had lunch with President on Tuesday and basically tried talk...

Who Needs Sleep? Week 55

Image
What is up everyone! Just took a nap and I'm feeling good, so let's get right into this email.  Okay so speaking of naps, I have had such a lack of sleep recently. It's honestly since I've arrived here in Brazil, but now it's finally catching up to me. It's like a go to sleep, wake up, and I'm still exhausted. After 8pm, I literally look like a zombie walking around on the street. I'm honestly just begging God everyday that my body can last 11 more months.  This week was a solid week. We worked hard, played (not as hard), and hit a bunch of our goals. Although we had a baptism fall through (again), we didn't let it weigh us down. We've been working a ton through Tatiana (the woman that we baptized three weeks ago), who now received her temple recommend! We are teaching her mom and sister, and her mom is going to get baptized on Saturday! The whole family is super happy! On the flip-side, I hit leg day for the first time in like 6 months on Wednes...
