Transferred From The Gangs || Week 24

Bom dia! Tudo bem everyone? I hope you all had an amazing week full of families, peanut butter, and AC. Only two more years. This week has been all but normal lol but I love it!

To keep things short: I got transferred from Parque do Sol (my old area), got a new companion, became senior companion, and became district leader. Lowkey have no clue what I'm doing; but hey, that's why I'm here right?

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT

This week, we had a mission conference with Elder Koch (member of the quorom of the 70) <-- Church Leadership. He talk us so much about being effective missionaries in every aspect, and really stressed the importance of being personally converted to Christ.

However, I actually want to share a little bit about what his wife taught us in her mini devotional. She started off by drawing a 3x4 grid on the white board. She included God, Eternal Life, Progress, and Family on one side, and Garden of Eden, Earth, and Atonement of Jesus Christ on the other side.

In the Garden of Eden, there was God and Eternal Life. On the Earth, there is Progress and Families. But only through the merits and sacrifice of the Atonement of Jesus Christ can we have God, Eternal Life, Progression, and Eternal Families.

In 2 Nephi 2 in reads... (book of mormon)

22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.

25. Adan fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall.

Many believe that the Fall of Adam and Eve was a step backwards. But in reality, the Fall of Adam brought about our opportunity to progress through this life, make our own decisions, and use the Atonement of Jesus Christ to acheive eternal progress and eternal families!

HIGHLIGHTS

- All You Can Eat Pizza: took our recent converts to an all lyou can eat pizzaria. Big mistake. You literally just pay money to get sick. I was only able to get down eight slices of pizza, some chocolate pizza, and a couple coxinhas (look it up/too hard to describe).

- Weight Check: speaking of all of this food. I made another big mistake and used a scale. And I officially gained 21 pounds since my weight loss days in my first area. And this weight unfortunately is not muscle.

- Gang Shootout: so there are two big gangs here in Brazil and I'm not going to talk too much about them because I don't know who will read this email and hunt me down. But they are both currently in a shootout and they sent messages to everyone telling us to be in our houses by 10pm. Supposedly, if you're out of you house, you'll get shot too. Scary things lol. I asked my friend why they're doing this. She replied, "because they have nothing better to do." I can literally think of a million things better to do!!

- New Area: My new area is Bayeux Alto. It's located just west of João Pessoa City and it's so much different! This is the place that I imagined when I thought of Brazil. To get to our appointments, we hike up a mountain and trek through the forrests. It's super cool. Lowkey dangerous when you can't see anything at night, but that makes things fun. My new companion is Elder Oliviera. He's from central Brazil, has two less months than me, and doesn't know english. But we're working our tails off everyday and I love it! Miracles will be seen in this area!

- Honorable Mentions:
--> All of can eat Acai yesterday.
--> We did a service project for an old lady, weeding her sand pit.
--> Weshilley went to the temple and absolutely loved it!!
--> First district meeting didn't go absolutely terrible.
--> made more american pancakes and cookies for people :)

That's it for this week! We're working from sunrise to sunset (plus like 4 hours in the dark) everyday so I haven't read an email in a bit, but I'll try my best to catch up!

I love you all and hope you all have the best week of your lives!!
