Cow Tongue Is Good -> Week 60

What is up everyone! I hope you all had the best week! This was another one of those difficult weeks with a whole lot of rejection. Through all of the rejection, we were able to see a couple of moments where God's hand was present and guiding the work. We were also able to experience a couple of "firsts" in my life, so that was fun. Be let's get into it. 


spiritual experiences


- one of the moments this week where I felt the spirit and God's love the strongest was when we were teaching an athiest. We got a reference from a member asking us to teach his brother who was "ready" to receive the gospel. We were able to testify of God's existence and of the living Christ, while having a conversation completely guided by the spirit. We were able to describe our experiences where we felt God's hand and presence in our lives, with the hope of planting a seed of faith in this brother's heart. 


- another experience this week where I felt immense joy was yesterday when our recent convert, Tatiana, bore her testimony. She got up on the pulpit and just started crying, thanking God for this gospel and for the opportunity to share it with her family! All of the members started crying too and it was a really cool moment. 


- the last spiritual experience that we had this week was on Saturday when we were able to use the Priesthood a few times. I was able to give someone, who tried to take away his life, a blessing of health and comfort. After the blessing, everyone in the room was in tears and the spirit was super strong. We were also able to give another blessing and a house dedication that same day!


cool things


- ate cow tongue for the first time in my life, and it was actual pretty good! It was just kinda hard to eat because I knew exactly what I was eating.


- we helped a member break into his own car using fishing line, because he locked his keys in his car. That was an interesting experience.


- the relief society planned the ward activity, and we ended up doing a giant water bottle flipping competition lol. 


- it was my dad's birthday on wednesday! I love you dad and hope that you had a great birthday!

Okay yeah, so there really is opposition in all things. This week, Satan was working hard against our friends and even our members. Not gonna lie, I was losing a ton of faith. But in the end, we stomped on his face and baptized some of our friends! First things first, these Brazilians are convinced that rain brings all sorts of sicknesses and diseases, and they will never walk in the rain. So when it rained Sunday morning, like no one showed up to church. The attendence took a hit, and we had a family of investigators who turned around and walked home when it started raining. Please pray that the sun comes out next Sunday.  We had a couple of baptismal dates fall through this week, because of all sorts of things. One of our members told something to another family of investigators, and now the mom doesn't want to talk to us anymore. Getting On The Road Soon (Happy Easter)

What is up everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic week and a happy Easter! I literally love this holiday, and as a missionary, it's even better! It literally emcompasses everything that we teach as missionaries: the Good News. Quick thought Elder Holland talks about this "good news". He says, "The word gospel as we use it in English comes down to us through early scriptural language which meant literally “good news” or sometimes “glad tidings.” The “good news” was that death and hell could be escaped, that mistakes and sins could be overcome, that there was hope, that there was help, that the insoluble was solved, that the enemy had been conquered. The good news was that everyone’s tomb could one day be empty, that everyone’s soul could again be pure, that every child of God could again return to the Father who gave them life."
