Temple João Pessoa
I am beyond blessed and happy right now! This week was difficult, exhausting, hilarious, and painful, but ended in the best way possible! I'll hit you guys with the day by day.
monday: we literally played soccer all day in the blazing hot sun. As a consequence, my ingrown toenail came back, worse than ever, and my face is really sunburt. It's still peeling! We ended the night having a spiritual family night and playing musical chairs at our recent converts' house with the whole ward!
tuesday: went to the doctor's office bright and early to get my toenail removed. I'm honestly kinda used to the pain now, but I still wanted to cry. The lady put some cotton on my toe and wrapped it up. Luckily, I was cleared to walk. We had an exchange, and I went with Elder Reynard (american in my group) to his area. It was the funniest exchange ever and we almost got bit by like a million dogs. During the day, the wrapping on my toe completely fell off and my toe got super dirty. When we got home, I immedietely went to the shower to clean off my toe. Only problem, they ran out of water. That was the worst and funniest night ever, as I went to sleep with a bloody and dirty toe.
wednesday: this was the day to find new people and we were just rejected by everyone. This was also the gang day of whatever, because there were gunshots going on literally all day.
thursday: this day I was completely exhausted and literally limping everywhere. My ankles, shins, and calves were giving out. It was also like the hottest day of the year, so that didn't help. Also funny story... we were walking down the street when some crazy lady called us over and asked us for a Book of Mormon. We got confused because we had just given her a book last week. She said that she gave out the book to a friend. I asked her to guide us to the house of the friend so that we could talk to them. She guided us there, and when we got there, there was a old jehovah's witness dude waiting there ready to bible bash with us. We kindly listened to this dude for like 20 minutes, and then just dipped. It wasn't worth it.
friday: another day of rejection with some other unfortunate events. While we were teaching a lesson, I felt a warm sensation on my leg and look down to see a dog peeing on my leg. It dripped down my leg onto my sock and flip flop lol. Later that day we saw a motorcycle get hit by a car, but luckily it looked like no one got hurt. We ended the night with our monthly karaoke night! The old men get heated when it comes to who can guess the classic 1950s portuguese song the fastest!
saturday: baptism of Juliana and Anderson! This was a super special day! We started the day watching Geral Conference with Juliana, Anderson, and their family! We then all walked to the chapel together, bought some cakes, and had the baptism! The spirit was super strong, and Anderson said that when he came up out of the water, the strongest feeling came over him that this baptism was making him a new man! I am super excited for this couple of become an eternal family one day! We ended the night going to the birthday party of one of the oldest members of the ward!
sunday: always the best day of the week! Especially when to don't have to stress about all of your friends coming to church lol. I was also blessed to baptism the brother of one of the people that I baptized in one of my past areas! It was such a special moment when the older brother reminded me that I baptized both him and his brother. We then watched the last session of General Conference and got to hear the words of our living prophet! I have no doubt that this man is called of God and he gave such a great talk on thinking celestial! He put the icing on the cake when he announced that there was be a temple here in João Pessoa!! It was like your favorite team hitting a buzzer beater, everyone started cheering! I am so blessed to be a missionary here in João Pessoa!
That's it for this week! We are about to have a multi zone pday, so I didn't have too much time to include everything, and I probably won't have to much time to respond. But I hope you all have a blessed week! Love you all!!
