Day In The Life -> Week 69
Good afternoon! How are you all doing? Not gonna lie, this wasn't the most exciting week ever, so I'm probably going to keep this one pretty short, but there isn't really a lot to expect being stuck in the mission office all day.
Let's start off by giving you all a run down of what I currently am spending my days doing. Wake up at 6:30am. Exercise, get ready, study, and plan until 9:30am. Go to the office at 10am. Make expense reports, budget mission money, pay bills, keep President's card from getting blocked, talk to the bank, fix missionary problems, make payments (services, rent, and food), and do reembursements. Then at 5pm, we leave the office and work normally on the street. I promise it's more interesting than it sounds.
However, this week was super busy, and I'm still learning the ropes, so we left late from the office almost everyday. So we had like no time in the road. But what I saw was that as we we magnified our duties in the office, the Lord always provided us will miracles, even in the two hours of work. The Lord provides miracles according to our faith and our willingness to follow His will.
This week, I've been studying a bit about why God gives us trials and afflictions, and I came across this scripture in the Book of Mormon.
Helaman 12: 2-3
2. Yea, and we may see at the very time when he doth prosper his people, yea, in the increase of their fields, their flocks and their herds, and in gold, and in silver, and in all manner of precious things of every kind and art; sparing their lives, and delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; softening the hearts of their enemies that they should not declare wars against them; yea, and in fine, doing all things for the welfare and happiness of his people; yea, then is the time that they do harden their hearts, and do forget the Lord their God, and do trample under their feet the Holy One --- yea, and this because of their ease, and their exceedingly great prosperity.
3. And thus we see that except the Lord doth chasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him.
This is such a common theme in the scriptures. People become righteous and follow God, God gives them miracles, the people being to boast in their own efforts and forget God, God destroys the people in their iniquity, and the people become righteous again. But we don't need to follow this Biblical trend. God gives us affliction to help us remember Him. As we continually remember Him and follow His will, He will help us turn these affliction into strengths and miracles, rather than our own physical or spiritual destruction. Trust God. Love Him. And let Him turn your weaknesses into strengths.
Okay so other things that happned this week were...
- I made a pact will some other missionaries to stop drinking coke. (I'm about to get so much healthier)
- I stubbed my ingrown toe nail super badly on the curb yesterday. It turned black, was bleeding a lot, and almost got infected, but the toe doctor cut half of the nail off, so I should be good for now.
- After two weeks of trying, I was finally able to take out money and pay all of the water and energy bills in the mission.
- While on the way to pay the bills, in was raining pretty bad, and I tripped on my flip flop, and almost landed on my head. But luckily my companion caught me, and everyone around (a ton of people) couldn't help but laugh.
- Mikael's baptism for day fell through. It was super sad, but we are going to keep working will him and preparing him for the big day!
- Three of the people that I had the opportunity to baptism, Tatiana, Manoel, and Marcello, went to the temple last week!! This made me super happy, and I know that they had such powerful, spiritual experiences!
That's about it for this week. I don't really know what we are going to do today, but we'll figure something out. Anyways, I love you all and I'm praying for y'all! Have a fantastic week!
