-> Week 72

Quick Story... The other day, we were walking down the road, super discouraged because literally no one wanted to listen to our message. It was about 9pm, and we were praying for a miracle from God. We stopped to talk to literally the only person on the street. We start chatting for a bit, and we learn pretty quickly that she is atheist (not very common in Brazil). I had no clue what to say, so I just started testifying of God and His son, Jesus Christ. She immediately started crying, as she knew it was a sign of "some sort" from "something". We were able to hand her a Book of Mormon just before her bus got there to pick her up. I don't know if she picked up the book to read, or if we even were able to make a great difference, but I do know that God is aware of our every individual needs, and touched the hearts of both His daughter and His missionary that night.

It's little things like this that drive my desire as a missionary, that strengthen my testimony of Christ, and that slowly shape me into who I want to be. I've continued to study a ton about the Atonement of Jesus Christ recently (His suffering, sacrifice, and resurrection). And I've learned that the Atonement doesn't save us, but it shapes and changes us. "The great Mediator asks for our repentance not because we must repay him in exchange for his paying our debt to justice, but because repentance initiates a developmental process that, with the Savior's help, leads us along the path to a saintly character." Christ is begging us to change, begging us to become more like Him. Brad Wilcox puts it this way: that in our final judgement, Christ will be begging the unrepentant sinner, "Please, choose to stay. Please, use my Atonement -- not just to be cleansed but to be changed so that you want to stay."

And that's why I'm a missionary: to help people with this change, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

This was also transfer week, which meant that we were super busy in the office. President made a surprise companionship change in the office, so now I'm with Elder Sales, and I couldn't be more excited! God has really blessed our area with the little time that we have on the road, and he is truly guiding us to those that are ready to hear His message. I have some other crazy stories from this week, so if you wanna hear them, just shoot me a message. But please pray for Matheus, Deline, Jose, Vera, and Zelia!

I love you all and hope that you all have a fantastic week!
