Back On The Rebuild

Ok so stuff's getting serious here in Bela Vista. Our Stake President got word from the area seventy, sat our ward lidership down, and told us that we have until August to raise the weekly attendance up to 100 or we're shutting down. Some members are in despair, others have faith, and we're just going to keep doing our work.

To accomodate the needs of our work, we've been amping up our inactive member efforts, and it's been paying off! The ward is going crazy visiting people with us and giving us the names of every inactive member they know. This Sunday, we were able to increase the attendance from 70 to 89. The ward was so happy!

This Saturday, we are going to have the first baptism that this ward has seen in five months. So it's safe to say that everyone is super excited. The members are making cakes, throwing an activity, and inviting all of their friends. I've never seen a ward more excited for a baptism. Please pray for Evillyn!

On Thursday, we held a ward karyoke night, and it was insane. First off, the activity was suppose to start at 7pm, but we got there, and there was no microphone. So after making a ton of calls, we found a microphone, and the activity didn't start until 8pm. And these members didn't end until 11:30pm. (we were back home on time). Second off, there were about 50 members that showed up, including a bunch of inactive members and investigators!

This week, I did an exchange with Elder Reynard, who arrived on the mission with me, and it was a miracle filled day! We had a blast, taught a bunch of lessons, ate açaí, got invited over for dinner, and marked three people for baptism! God is so good.

We saw a pretty cool miracle this week. We were on our way to karyoke night, when we decided to pass by the house of one more inactive member on the way. We met Maria de Lurdes. She is 15 and was baptized when she was 8. She doesn't remember much about the church, but she still has her Book of Mormon. We gave a quick message and invited her to come to the activity. Suprisingly, she came! And when she got there, she realized that one of her best-friends, Evillyn, was getting baptized on Saturday! The two talked all night, and Maria de Lurdes came to church yesterday!

I love this ward. I love this work. And I'm super excited for the miracles to come this week! Please pray for Evillyn, Emilly, Célia, Carmelita, João, João, Raony, Guia and Kaue! I love you all and hope you all have a great week!
